Message from the Principal Eng. Dr. Richard J. Masika
It is with much pleasure that I introduce you to the Arusha Technical College (ATC) through this Website. Thank you for your interest in pursuing studies at the ATC. This website will provide you with detailed information on ATC’s academic programmes to guide you in making important decisions about your education career.
The institution which has become the Arusha Technical College (ATC), was established in 1978 jointly by the Governments of the United Republic of Tanzania and Germany, under the name of the Technical College Arusha (TCA). In March 2007, the name changed to the Arusha Technical College (ATC) through the Arusha Technical College Establishment Order No. 78 as enabled by the NACTE Act No. 9 of 1997. This Establishment Order granted autonomy and elevated the status of the College to a higher tertiary education institution.
The College is registered and accredited by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) to train technicians and engineers. ATC boasts an established reputation as an institution that is widely acclaimed by industry for producing work-ready, competent graduates who can meet the demands of the employers. We take pride in the high employability of our graduates and the appreciations expressed by employers for the excellent quality and relevance of our academic programmes and so we seek to continuously upgrade our support to our students.
The College offers a wide range of full-time, evening-time and part-time engineering technician programmes leading to the awards of Ordinary Diploma (NTAs 4-6). Our programmes, are competences based and, offered through six departments include Automotive Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics &Telecommunication Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Laboratory Technology Science.
From October 2010, the College introduced undergraduate programmes in the fields of Civil and Irrigation Engineering. All of this and more await you at the Arusha Technical College, and we hope that you will make ATC your first choice for pursuing science and technology studies. We look forward to serving you and to exceeding your expectations. It is our goal to give students knowledge and skills that ensure successful entrance to the labour market as either prospective employers or employees who are ready for both the world of work and continuing education.
